Playing The Map is a musical journey in song taking place in Huddersfield 2005 and 2006.
Playing The Map starts at Huddersfield University and travels to Cowlersley, Crow Lane, Paddock, Royds Hall and Spring Grove Schools.
Playing The Map begins with songs about family and home (and neighbours and more…) and moves into stories and drama and photographs and dance and recordings and performances.
Journey with us on this map, by seeing pictures, reading lyrics and hearing songs as they are being composed and as they are made.
There will be public performances on June 21 st 2006 at St Paul’s Hall Huddersfield University (7.30pm) and an exhibition of photographs and songs in Huddersfield Art Gallery in June/July 2006.
Playing The Map is led by Hugh Nankivell and is part of Huddersfield University Music Department Outreach Project.

As part of the project Bob Lockwood ran workshops encouraging the children
to explore their environment, the song themes, the nature of maps and
letting imaginations run wild.
Bob then collected a stack of artwork and
recordings the height of Castle Hill which have given birth to Mapping The
Play. The result is a fantastical town of crazy houses and jaunty sounds.
